<p>Yes. You can do small exercises at your workplace itself. Here are some tips.</p>
<p><strong>Desk Exercises</strong></p>
<p>You can perform some wrist stretches, back twist, leg extension, hip flexing, inner thigh exercises and so on right at your desk. Or, you can perform some standing exercises in your cabin itself. These include leg lifting and flexing the hip while standing.</p>
<p><strong>Use the water bottle</strong></p>
<p>You can use the filled water bottle as a weight and lift it with your hands. First lift the bottle with your right hand and then with the left hand. Repeat it for five times. Or, you can curl the bottle towards your shoulder. Repeat this alternately with both the hands.</p>
<p><strong>Exercise in the lunch break</strong></p>
<p>You can choose a variety of exercises during your lunch break. Going to the office gym or going out for a walk are the options during the lunch break. Walk for half an hour in the lunch break so that you can bun some more calories. This will add to your weight loss plan too!</p>
<p><strong>Take frequent breaks</strong></p>
<p>Researches suggest that exercise at office improves productivity! So, try to fit in exercise in between your meetings and sessions. For every one hour take a short walk to any other department or the coffee machine or to the loo. Remember that even a slight move will burn calories. <h2>Weight loss surgeries</h2>
<p>Many consider weight loss surgery is the easiest and effective method. Most of the obese population are opting for weight loss surgeries. Weight loss surgeries result in a considerable weight reduction. But, they too have significant side effects in the long term.</p>
<p>Researchers have zeroed in on a nerve that communicates between brain and gut. The vagus nerve sends a signal from gut to the brain to trigger the feeling of hunger, to digest the food and to produce insulin.</p>
<h3>The surgical procedure</h3>
<p>The surgery can be done in two ways. The first method is known as vagotomy and the second method is ‘vagal nerve blocking’. Both the procedures are done with laparoscopic method.</p>
<p>In the first method, <strong>vagotomy</strong>, the vagal nerve is cut from the body. This involves cutting the entire vagus nerve and some of your stomach muscles. It results in losing a significant weight loss. But, this surgery cannot be restored. Even after you achieve normal weight, you won’t feel the hunger. Further, this surgery results in side effects such as diarrhoea, vomiting, dizziness and so on.</p>
<p>The second method, <strong>vagal nerve blocking</strong>, is an alternative to vagotomy. This method achieves the same results, at the same time, keeps the vagus nerve intact. In this method, an electronic device is inserted into the system that blocks the nerve and thereby, the communication between the brain and the gut. Thus, your appetite and digestion can be controlled without disrupting the vagus nerve. Once the patient achieves the targeted weight loss, the device can be removed.</p>
<h3>Way ahead</h3>
<p>Both the methods need FDA approval. Currently, these tests are conducted on a sample population. It may take four to five years to actually implement these surgical procedures on majority people. Let’s hope for the best in the coming years for easy weight loss.</p>

<p>There are many simple ways to burn calories. Some are &#8211; Use stairs instead of lift!, walk to a store that&#8217;s near to your house instead of taking out your car, take your dog for a walk everyday, walk to your workplace and so on.</p>
<h3>Avoid high-calorie diet</h3>
<p>Say no coke, alcohol, sweets, whole milk and the like. Even if you are forced to, have in little quantities. Count the calories before you start eating anything. Reduce the calorie intake to less than what you normally eat.</p>
<h3>Have a balanced and timely diet</h3>
<p>Don&#8217;t skip your meals. That will result only in additional strain to your digestive system. Have a balanced diet with proper proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates, minerals, fat, and of course fiber. Have them in right quantities. Don&#8217;t overdo any of the items.</p>
<h3>Exercise daily</h3>
<p>Begin with simple ones, that may be the ones you have learnt in your primary school. Start with five minutes a day. Slowly increase the time to upto half an hour.</p>
