99% of the calcium in your body is found in bones or skeleton. The rest is in teeth, soft tissues and blood. Children who do not take enough calcium are likely to develop osteoporosis later in their life. Children must have at least three servings a day of low-fat or fat-free dairy foods.

Apart from milk, here are food items that add more calcium to your kids meals.

Plain yogurt

American cheese

Cow’s milk

Goat’s milk

Soy milk

Dried figs

Orange juice

Spinach

Broccoli

Sweet potatoes

Tofu

Lentils

Salmon

Yes. Vaccination is as essential as food, water and oxygen for your kid. Prevention is always better than cure, particularly in the case of children diseases. Read on to find more about vaccination.

What is Vaccination?

Vaccines are medicines that prevent a disease. They help the body produce antibodies which resist the disease. Vaccination helps children to stay away from diseases.

Why vaccination?

The natural immunity of children is normally less. As a result, they are prone many deadly diseases. New born children acquire natural immunity from mother. After six months, this immunity is not enough for the kids. They are now susceptible to many viruses and infections. To prevent bacteria and other infections, children need additional immunity. Vaccination serve this purpose of immunization. Vaccines add an extra protection to your baby in their initial stages of life.

What is the right time for vaccination?

Your children vaccination schedule starts as early as one month old and finish by the time your kid is ten years old. You can ask your family physician about the child’s vaccination chart or you can find it at American Academy of Family Physicians or the American Academy of Pediatrics .

For some parents, it is a pleasure, while for some others, parenting is daunting. It is always a debatable question that who is easier to raise boys or girls? Family therapists say that boys and girls are both difficult in their own ways. Here are some reasons.

Ease of parenting depends on what you are looking for in your child. Further, the difficulty changes with the age of the child too. For example, when you are looking at discipline, it is easy to convince girls. Boys, generally, lack listening skills right from their birth. So, disciplining boys is harder.

Girls, on one hand, are less aggressive and keeping them safe is easier. Boys, on the other hand, are violent and harder to control and convince. Many parents find that boys find pleasure in risks and adventures. Girls need to be encouraged to take more risks while boys need encouragement to slow down.

Girls, being people oriented, naturally possess less self confidence and need constant motivation. Researchers say that girls are more insecure than boys. Girls try to please others more. In this process, they tend to push down them selves. Boys are more action oriented and are high on self-esteem and ego.

Girls are good at pictures, colors and textures. Girls are easier to communicate and taught at school. While boys don’t like in-door and academics based education. It is harder to send boys to school than girls.

In general, it looks like bringing up girls is easy in the early years, while bringing up boys is easier in pre-teens. I have a five year old boy. So, I feel parenting girls is easier.
