Include more calcium in diet of your kids to improve their bone growth

Calcium plays an important element of your diet especially in kids meals. But, kids don’t get enough calcium in their diet. Increasing calcium in kids’ diet at any point of time increases the bone density.

99% of the calcium in your body is found in bones or skeleton. The rest is in teeth, soft tissues and blood. Children who do not take enough calcium are likely to develop osteoporosis later in their life. Children must have at least three servings a day of low-fat or fat-free dairy foods.

Apart from milk, here are food items that add more calcium to your kids meals.

  • Plain yogurt
  • American cheese
  • Cow’s milk
  • Goat’s milk
  • Soy milk
  • Dried figs
  • Orange juice
  • Spinach
  • Broccoli
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Tofu
  • Lentils
  • Salmon
