Yoga and weight loss

Most of the yoga practitioners consider yoga as a best method for weight loss. It considers all aspects of obesity including mental, physical and emotional strength.

In contrast, other weight loss promoters believe that yoga itself is not sufficient for weight loss. Weight loss requires shedding out lot of calories from your body. While yoga helps in coordinating your mind and body, it doesn’t burn much calories. So, supplement your yoga program with additional weight loss techniques such as exercising, aerobics, walking, jogging and so on.

    It helps in following MITAHAR which means measured diet in Sanskrit. This is a unique concept of Yoga. In brief it asks one
    -to fill half the stomach with food,
    -to fill quarter of the stomach with water,
    -to keep the remaining quarter of the stomach for the movement of the gases
    while taking his meals.
    Yoga enables you to look at the weak signal from the hunger center when it signals ENOUGH now.
    Yoga does spend calories. various tables have been published in this regard. While practsing Yoga one experiences improved blood circulation. From where does the energy come for this improved blood circulation?

    Yoga can certainly help people to lose weight, bit our diets are so important also.

    Yoga does actually help lose weight. I have been practing it for three months now, yeah, not much I know but I have dropped a couple of pounds and i’m very excited because of that.My diet as mentioned has now changed largely to vegetarian.I feel great and I think I look good too ;) , anyway, I am a firm believer that Yoga does help one lose weight.
